IPJ Daylight Series
"Our Challenge:
Voices for Peace, Partnerships and Renewal"
12:30-2:00pm
Conference Rooms E & F
The Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice and the United Nations
Association of San Diego each have special consultative status with the
Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and are able to attend
special UN meetings. Anne Hoiberg (UNA-SD) and Elena McCollim (IPJ)
attended the 58th annual conference of the nongovernmental (NGO)
organization section of the UN's Department of Public Information with 2,000
other NGO representatives in attendance. This year the NGO conference comes
on the eve of the 2005 World Summit, expected to bring together the largest
number ever of heads of state (approximately 174) to commit to a series of
actions to eradicate poverty, create a safer world, and reform the UN. Come
and hear highlights from this important NGO conference.
No RSVP is required. Free and open to the public. Feel free to bring a
lunch; soft drinks and cookies will be served.
