Dr. Naba Saleem Hamid, founder of Iraqi New Horizons for Women (NHFW), and science professor in the College of Education at the University of Baghdad, created NHFW in 2003 to empower Iraqi women to become active members of civil society, educate women on international agreements and conventions, and build bridges across ideological, gender, race, and religious divides. NHFW is a member of the Iraqi Women's Network, an umbrella organization for 80 women-run nongovernmental organizations. Dr. Hamid has been invited on a speaking tour of the United States by PeaceXPeace, an international women's peace group, based in Virginia.
