If democracy is the goal, gender equality in decision-making is vital to achieving it, globally. Join us for a buffet breakfast and stories from women of the world in the San Diego institute built by one woman who was committed to peacemaking — Joan B. Kroc. Come and hear reports from the global frontlines where women are seeking peace, democracy, and gender equity.

The program includes the premiere of IPJ’s 2003 Women PeaceMakers Program short video, entitled Women . . . Making Peace, Seeking Justice, which featuring women peacemakers from Israel, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, and Somalia. A presentation of "Global Dispatches", comprising women's reports from international hotspots and from the 49th U.N. Commission on the Status of Women, follows the video

A tour of the IPJ will be available at the conclusion of the breakfast program. Parking in the IPJ underground garage will be available for those who arrive by 7:00 a.m. RSVP, with a $10.00 check or credit card information requested by February 25th.

War often brings about a temporary change in gender roles. Women get new roles during armed conflict such as breadwinners, entrepreneurs and activists.
