Co-Presented with Survivors of Torture International and Active Voice:
"Chasing Freedom"
"Chasing Freedom," an original film starring Juliette Lewis as an ambitious corporate lawyer who takes on the pro bono political asylum case of a young Afghan woman whose life is in grave danger under the repressive Taliban regime. The movie will premiere on Court TV on Jan. 19. The IPJ screening will be followed by a panel discussion to look at a full range of issues relating to political asylum and the plight of asylum seekers. The panel includes David Gangsei, PhD, Clinical Director of Survivors of Torture International; Andrea Guerrero, Esq., an immigration attorney; Antra Preide, MD, a volunteer physician for Doctors of the World's Human Rights Clinic in San Diego; and will be moderated by David Engstrom, PhD, professor at the SDSU School of Social Work. |
