On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women
"In the Time of the Butterflies"
The film tells the story of two women who challenge the ruthless dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujilo of the Dominica Republic in the 1930's and suffer the consequences. A panel discussion will follow with David Gengsei, Clinical Director of Survivors of Torture International and Diane Lesher, County Office of Violence Prevention. They will be joined by Nick Stamon from International Museum of Human Rights, Anne Hoiberg of the United Nations Association's Women Equity Council and Dr. Dee Aker Deputy Director of the Institute for Peace & Justice. |
