“An Ounce of Prevention:
Efforts to Prevent Deadly Conflict”

Dr. Charles Jefferson

 

Dr. Charles Jefferson received his Ph.D. in International Relations from Claremont Graduate University. He began his career in the Federal civil service in 1977. He has served as a Middle East analyst in the National Military Intelligence Center at the Pentagon. He eventually moved to the State Department as a political-military analyst, and became the senior policy advisor in the Office of Contingency Planning and Peacekeeping in the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs. Dr. Jefferson will present an overview of the conflict prevention as a topic of international discussion. This will include a brief description of the basic concepts and terminology being used, American policy on conflict prevention issues, and the roles of various international bodies.
